“12 states debate guns on school campus”

Phoenix, AZ - Will Roberts - A Modern Day Will Rogers.

Now all I know is what little I read on the Internet! Today’s headline “12 states debate guns on school campus” now before we go on, lets give you a headline from the other day, Feb. 14th.

6 students killed in Illinois university school shooting, a modern day Valentine day massacre. Here are today’s headlines, just good timing or good marketing, or both.

In the past two weeks 5-7 public shootings have occurred. I am giving you folks a range of how many have happened because it will no doubt change in the coming weeks.

Folks are taking their personal problems and making them public. Now I have a whole set of thoughts on how communication and lack of involvement into each others lives might just have something to do with the “public out cry for help”. But that is another subject. I also can’t stop thinking about the possible connection of the drugs folks are pumping into themselves and the possible side effects they could have on our bodies. I was reading a magazine and saw an ad for a medication and the thing took up 4 pages. Not because of pretty pictures, but for all the things that you might get while taking this drug. It also listed the reasons why you can’t sue these companies because you can’t say they didn’t tell you so.

Side effects that make me think I would rather just cut out the body part that is giving me the problem than to risk having to take 20 more pills for the side effects. I am not a doctor or a physiologist and I may just be speaking out of my behind, (I bet they have a pill for that too”) but maybe just maybe this is just a poor band aid on a much larger problem.

They use to say an apple a day keeps the doctor away… well that was then, and now the chemicals they use to make the apple look shinny and appealing or the process they use to make it bigger makes it more like, an apple a day, keeps the doctor in pay!

Now some folks seem to think that the real issue is guns. I don’t want my comments about this growing problem to be all about this cowboy defending guns. So, I am going to take both side and shoot for somewhere down the middle, so to speak. As I have told you all before, I am a cowboy that swings a rope and spins two very real 3-pound Ruger Vicaro, Single action guns, know as the “Gun that won the west.”

Go here to see my gun handling action: http://www.willrogersusa.com/news.cfm?id=37&m_id=52
I give you all this background so you can see my side of the story – BOTH sides.

See folks should have the right to have guns, if they follow the rules and have all their marbles in place, in one place. Here is where the rub comes in. This student group called: Students for Concealed Carry on Campus wants it to be ok to carry guns on school property. In the words of actor and rapper Will Smith “wicky wicky Wild West.

Let me also say that I live in Phoenix, Arizona and in that state you can carry a gun out in the open, as long as it is “out in the open” and not concealed. I guess that is to give all the folks that don’t carry a chance to see us from a mile away and start running, seems logical to me, seeing a mile away and running part. I assume that this law came from long ago when cowboys and Indians roam the band lands of Arizona. Don’t think this Wild West town is just trying to live in its history, no sir we have rules about guns. The big one is, you can not carry your firearm into a bar, you have to check it in and on the way out, IF you are not to cockeyed they’ll give it back. Which brings me to the point I am aiming for?

Bars in Arizona have enough sense to know that any activity that heightens the senses means, heightened debates and heighten anger, and you can take it from there.

With that being said – Have you ever been to a college campus or event? Most students would tell you “Why do you think we are here?” to party.

See I have first hand knowledge of the handling of guns with folks that normally don’t handle them. I have a Wild West company (www.WildWestPerformers.com and www.MechanicalBullAssociation.com) and this company helps folks with parties, corporate events, anything you want with a western theme. Western performers, Mechanical bulls, cowboy interactive games, and one of the more popular games is FASTDRAW where two opponents face off, high noon style and draw six shooters at each other. We give the safety instructions, because safety is first, last and everywhere in between. Now you are ready, slap on the six-shooter, drop the hat and . . . DRAW!

Now, if you want to see folks look confused as a deer in the headlights, then hand someone a gun and make them draw against another person with a gun. Even the folks that two minutes ago said, “Yeah, I have three guns, I served in the military and I hunt. The pressure of having to draw on another person is enormous. They will pull the gun out and not pull the trigger, drop the gun, hold the wrong part of the gun, wave it around point it at other people in the room. Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun, but that is just what if it is a game, and only a game. The guns are movie prop guns and it’s just not real. The only people trained for such a situation is a police officer. Now that I think about it, when was the last time you read about a home invasion that was foiled by the person at that home with a gun, not a lot. The person becomes more dangerous than the gun. Guns don’t kill people… you know the saying.

So, this group “Students for Concealed Carry on Campus” wants it to be ok that folks carry guns on campus, kind of like the old west town, the ASU Corral, Or the UCLA . . . Fill in the blanks with a school near you. Don’t let Hollywood make you think that the OK corral was this beautifully choreographed, a show of marksmanship with guns spinning in a flourish ending up in their holsters, far from it. The OK coral lasted 30 seconds, and consider of a bunch of cowboys drawing their guns and just shooting everywhere, like the fast draw game. Now expand this idea to the malls, and most public places, and you have the Wild Wild West.

Look what happens when gang bangers do a drive by and the other rival gang firers back, more likely more than the two gangs get hurt or killed. Do we really want the whole country to become “Fair game”? I am willing to take any other solutions on this matter. I will even draw you for it, heck, you might even win.

    You, too, can be artickalett.

People like to say about Mr. Barka Bomba that he’s “artickalett,” which I suppose is more than you can say about them. I presume they mean: “reasonably able to occasionally utter complete sentences, that is, for a person with partially Kenyan genes and gerbil ears.” It’s the ears, really, that throws them off. Let’s get this out of the way: it’s not racist, “wrong,” or unfair to compare Monsieur Fauxbama’s grumpy, oft-empty, visage to a “cartoon monkey,” a “deer-trapped-in-the-headlights,” or, for that matter, a gerbil. No more than it would be racist, wrong, or unfair to compare Mr. Bush to, say, Howdy Doody; or Mr. Cheney to Jabba the Hutt (both of which are, let’s face it, pretty fair comparisons.) People used to compare Joe Montana to Barry Manilow all the time, and nobody got in too much of a huff about it. What could be more insulting than that, reallY? Who can count the number of times Al Gore’s chin got compared to lumber, or Kerry’s eyebrows to swamp grass? Hey, a gerbil is a gerbil is a gerbil.

Another curious hypocrisy one hears about Oprah’s fave professional cigar-puffing politician from Illinois is that he looks “digner-fied.” Again, I presume they mean: “the reason his nose is always pointed in the air is because he’s on the Change Express”… and he’s still in Pampers. Somebody needs a change, all right.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I supported Jess Jackson for president. Elridge Cleaver, even. How many of you on the “Pampers Express” even know who that is (technically, was)? And, I think Mr. Oooobama did a pretty fair imitation of the reverend himself on Oprah. Remember him stalking the stage shouting in extensively rehearsed Hip-Hop “don’t tales me ah cain’t dooze sumpin! Don’t tales me ah cain’t dooze sumpin! Don’t tales me…” and so on, ad nauseum. Oddly, when he showed up in Iowa, his accent had metamorphosed magically from “Rap Star Homey” into “Middle Aged Male WASP Guernsey-Milker.” Then, in New York, he was suddenly “Manhattan hotel front desk clerk.” Well, even Rich Little had his limits.

A third hypocrisy we sometimes read in the press is what an “intelly-gent” man he is. Barraka, I mean, not Rich, though Rich had his moments. Again, they clearly mean “for a middle aged partially Kenyan male with gerbil ears from Kansas.” Of course, including Kansas automatically makes it an oxymoron. Let’s face it: if Mrs. Clinton were 20 years younger, single, and a “major babe,” people would be calling her “articulate, dignified, and intelligent,” which she inarguably is, instead of “that… that… woman.”

How many times have you heard this myth: “It’s all about race and gender”? Of course, it’s not all about race and gender. It’s all about race, gender, and wacked-out elderly white men who hate ‘gooks’ and want revenge on the world.” Oh, yeah, and that other little old guy who’s still more or less “unsafe at any speed.” (But, really, shouldn’t he be paying more attention to the signs that point to the “Funny Farm” and not the White House?)

Now, before you wet your pampers and start jumping up and down wagging your finger at the computer monitor, just go change the channel. That’s why God invented the remote.

    And gerbils.

MARCH 4th (FORTH) AND STOP THIS OLD SCHOOL POLITICS!

Well I am not going to sugar coat my disappointment in the primary elections on this last Tuesday. It has left me feeling a little dirty to be a Democrat. In the past few days Candidate Hilary Clinton has decided to bring back the old school politics and try to destroy Obama, not surprising that a politician would stoop that low when someone else is so high.
Now it is no secret that I have pledged my allegiance to candidate Senators Obama. My reasons along with others who feel the same way are very clear. We are all looking for a change, now wait before you tell me I have Obama-mania and ask yourself this question: Is the word change a new idea to us? or just foreign in our countries politians. Are we listening to this man and saying, Now that is a new idea OR are we saying, thank you for the hand now lets walk down this path together? And TOGETHER that is what we were BEFORE these vicious attacks.

Now if you don’t think the republicans are not going to sit and take notes as you uncover any and all dirt about the other side, and then use it against the other party in the general elections, then who I ask you, who is the naive one. In this whole process of picking the right person for this job, we are the boss. So, we must ask the right questions, anything that comes from the competition is just that competition.
Does your candidate make you stand up, get you to talk to your neighbor, think in a different way, act in a kinder way, do they move you to action. This is something that we have not had in a long time and now we feel we have found it in Senators Obama. I have been to a rally and seen YOUNG PEOPLE at these events with excitement and passion and ATTENTION. I see the paradigm shift in our country and know that we (Democrats) will lose our future (THE YOUNG PEOPLE) if we don’t stop this kind of politics Hillary is committing to. Is that not why we wanted change to begin with? A change from the same old political game? Hillary, you have now proven with out a doubt that you are not about CHANGE, unless it is spare change and it goes in your pocket. If you want fair then lets start with your bank statements.

Now I have said this before and I will say it over and over again until I am BLUE in the face, look at the BIG picture and think about the young people. IF we (Democrats) keep this up and allow our candidates (Democrats) to bicker back and forth, It will tear the party apart. We will get to the Denver convention and it will look like “It always does, like politics!” Will Rogers said, ” If politics was honest, it would not be politics.”

Hillary is truly having a math problem, Her math will always equal = ONE, number ONE, Numero Uno, herself not the people. She is succeeding in destroying the Democratic Party; she will go down in history as a party crasher, if we don’t stop this insanity. These old school politics of bashing your opponent until they are reduced to nothing is what we have asked to end and both, all candidates have agreed to do so.

Please look into this race (Democratic side) and count all the times Hilary has attacked and tried to discredit Obama. Attack ads and her campaign slipping out his name and what he wears. Note: comparing Obama sending out an mailer with your opponent position, is a far cry from sending out a picture of your opponent in the very style outfit that puts fear in all Americans.

Then stand back and count how many times Obama has instigated an attack campaign on any of the other candidates…. A week ago the democrats looked like they had this race sealed up, now we lay in the streets bleeding of our own self-inflicted wounds. It is pretty bad when an independent (me) is seriously looking at the republican nominee and thinking, ” I guess I could vote for him, he may have different policies, but he is definitely honest”. I truly WISH I could say that about Billary Clinton, but sadly I can not. This most recent attack on Obama leaves me so disappointed. I stayed in bed an extra hour today and as many folks I talked to , we pushed aside our daily news. Now that may not seem like much, but two days ago when I thought the democrats had an HONEST chance, it made me spring up each day and want to read the newspaper and see that we had an future AHEAD of us, not one of our own BEHEADING the party. Please don’t call us sore losers; we are on the same team. It is just that we need to help fellow democrats learn to spell team, because there is no I in team. HOWARD DEAN THIS IS DIRECTED TO YOU AND ALL SUPER DELEGATES: Obama has empowered me, US, “The people” to help make that change in ourselves to find out what WE can do for our country and not what our country could do for US.
Americans who did not vote now proudly vote. People talking that did not talk before, in fear of not being heard or their vote not being counted, believe they now have a voice. I ask each and every one of you, IS THAT NOT WHAT THE LEADER OF OUR COUNTRY IS SUPPOSED TO DO? Is that not what Barack Obama has done? To move us to act together not move us apart. Executive Experience is NOT the issue, if it was we would look back on the experience we have had for the last 7 years and dismiss it.
IF Hillary gets this nomination in the way that she got this last Tuesdays primary, it will take my independent vote and make me DEPENDENT on the Republican nominee, or no vote at all. If you think that every Obama voter is not considering this as an option then you are gravely mistaken. GET CONTROL OF THIS DEMOCRATS, and not the way you took control of the senate and House. The Democrats have been sucker punched and we have the wind knocked out of us, but we are not going down without a fight. Only don’t make us fight amongst ourselves, because it will tear this family (Democrats) apart.
Now on the voter side of this matter, I feel we only have one recourse. We need to get all Democrats and Indepents, if we feel moved to send this letter out. ADD your thoughts if you like, sign it, and send it to each and every Delegate and Super Delegate you can find. We must stop this behavior before we hand this 2008 race to the Republicans on a sliver platter. That is all I have to say other than, PASS THIS ON!!!!

    Thoughtfully, Will
